Uniqlo +J Spring/Summer 2011 Collection

Work it, Comrade.

The Spring/Summer +J collection from Jil Sander and Uniqlo hits stores on January 26th.

"Combining true modernity with unconditional comfort, freedom in movement, and sculptural grace. +J has been lauded "the work of a true perfectionist."

"Imagine Sahara and dunes, elegant curves, natural hues and primordial contrasts of red, blue, and white. Think modern nomads who seek the sublime in full day light."

Alrighty, then. Let's take a look.

Jil Sander has always had a practical approach to her designs. That isn't to say they are without elegance or style, but you can usually count on her for wearable wardrobe basics of which you'll get a lot of use. There are some pretty, easy-to-wear and easy-to-pair pieces here. Having said that, some of it gets a little Soviet-utilitarian even for her. Unsurprisingly, we tend to like the pieces in richer colors more than the "Sahara"hues. But with a good eye and the right mixing and accessories, you could build some cute and classically chic looks off a lot of these pieces.

Let's check the menswear.

Not really feeling it. It's not bad, but it lacks whatever low-key chicness the ladies clothes have. There's wardrobe basics and then there's just basics.

You can check out the rest of the looks here.
