Dina Goldstein - The Fallen Princesses

Life isn't a fairy tale! These Photo's are about fallen princesses: the reality. In Fairy tales everyone lives hapilly ever after, but not in our world...
Dina Goldstein asked herself "what if cinderella would be lonely? What if the Little Mermaid would be trapped in a glass tank. What if Little Red Riding Hood would be fat? What if...Belle needs Botox? Snow White becomes a depressed housewife? Sleeping beauty never wakes up from her coma...Rapunzel had cancer and loses her hair of chemo?!

Margaux Lange - Jewellery

The series is a result of Lange’s desire to re-purpose mass produced materials into handmade, wearable art. It is meant to examine and celebrate her own as well as pop culture’s relationship with the icon known simply as: Barbie.

Try Eero's ball chair and get lost

Get lost in your own world inside the ball... like me. The Eero Aarnio's Ball Chair (1966) is a "room within a room" with a cozy and calm athmosphere, protecting outside noises and giving a private cocoon like space for relaxing. Turning around its own axis on the base the view to the outer world is on demand.

Finnish designer Eero Aarnio ( born in 1932) is known primarily for two things: his light and very unconventional furnishings and his extensive use of fiberglass in his designs. Visit his website at eero-aarnio.com

Aarnio explains that "The idea of the chair was very obvious. We had moved to our first home and I had started my free-lance career in 1962. We had a home but no proper big chair, so I decided to make one, but some way a really new one. After some drawing I noticed that the shape of the chair had become so simple that it was merely a ball. I pinned the full scale drawing on the wall and ‚sat' in the chair to see how my head would move when sitting inside it. Being the taller one of us I ‚sat' in the chair and my wife drew the course of my head on the wall. This is how I determined the height of the chair. Since I aimed at a ball shape, the other lines were easy to draw, just remembering that the chair would have to fit through a doorway.

After this I made the first prototype myself using an inside mould, which has been made using the same principle as a glider fuselage or wing. I covered the plywood body mould with wet paper and laminated the surface with fiberglass, rubbed down the outside, removed the mould from inside, had it upholstered and added the leg. In the end I installed the red telephone on the inside wall of the chair. The naming part of the chair was easy, the BALL CHAIR was born."

live, light, love and peace.

so, over the weekend splendour was on!
I was a virgin to camping festivals, and was a bit nervous about camping, but it was so fine, there were showers and proper toilets (that actually flushed)!

the festival on the whole was so amazing, i couldnt even tell you what my highlights were!
- one morning we did this workshop with Mr Percival, it was so beautiful, free and fun.
it was a singing workshop where we started off my just humming different sounds which then turned into words;

May all your dreams come true;
Come sing with us today.

it was just such a great fresh way to start our last day at splendour. at first everyone was a bit stand off and nervous about singing, but everyone loosened up.

Florence and the Machine stole my heart!
She was so amazing it was incredible to see her perform, with just one outfit a flowing white cape and no shoes. It was so fun jumping around being so carefree. it was so amazing to see the amount of people that were in the one arena. PHENOMENAL!
the stocks were amazing, temper trap, tame impala, grizzly bear, hot chip, empire of the sun, kate Nash, there was just way too much GREAT music involved, and it sucked when people over lapped!

<3
the overall layout of splendour was MASSIVE, i found it a fair walk from place to place... a bit too far... but the atmosphere was so whitty. there were these projector heads in the trees called human nature which actually looked like the treees had faces, massive guitars, peace signs, side stalls, shopping, eating, food, bevvies, redbull, vodka, you name it they had it!

surprisingly it wasnt cold, i know that everyone packed for cold cold weather, but it was delicious! beaming sun, just at night you would need a light jacket! =)

i had a beautiful time with beautiful people! learnt alot about music, and had the best weekend. take me back...
=)
