take it off to you
The Bowler Hat.
It has been around for years, better yet centuries, and I am in love with it!
I've been trying to shop this past couple of days only to walk away disappointed... which is very rare for me, but today i came across this simple hat! It actually made my day... Sad right how material things make us happy.
This Bowler hat actually had quite a bit of history behind it, where did it come from, and why is it such a classic item to have.
It is most famously known as Charlie Chaplin's signature hat...
recognised years ago!
yes this little man- famous silent movie star, who used comedy, slapstick humor and other visual comedy styles was one of the first to introduce this wonderful simple accessory...
He was the most FAMOUS movie star before the end of world war 1.
talk about history behind a hat!
on a famous mans body!
This hat has also been recognised in famous art painting...
"the son of man"
1964
I found this quote by Magritte-
"At least it hides the face partly. Well, so you have the apparent face, the apple, hiding the visible but hidden, the face of the person. It's something that happens constantly. Everything we see hides another thing, we always want to see what is hidden by what we see. There is an interest in that which is hidden and which the visible does not show us. This interest can take the form of a quite intense feeling, a sort of conflict, one might say, between the visible that is hidden and the visible that is present."
The idea of using an accessory or in the case of the apple- people love to hide behind things, you may be doing it subconsciously but on the everyday we are all ultimately hiding behind something...
In a nutshell, its a pretty famous hat!
I think it really finishes an outfit, completes it, today i had on all black and i popped this hat on my head and WAH-LAH this red statement bowler completed me!
now i think today i was focusing on my head, and the idea of the bowler hat..
i found this amazing fascinator, bowler style- kind of boarder line top hat but mini, with some netting, feathers and a simple pearl.
I also love pearls i think they make an outfit ultra classic and chic.
so go out and grab a hat, complete your outfit! not only is it a fashion accessory but also a piece of classic history!

Ashley Isham is a designer based in London and unfortunately due to no flights out of london he was unable to come to the opening of his new boutique in the Mandarin Gallery- level 2.
Of course the wonderful and renowned Daniel Boey was there to keep things well under way, and he did a phenomenal job! I loved the theme of the event, there was a classic string quartet, and a kind of dream like theme to the show, - inspired by Alice in Wonderland.
The set was magical, with over sized rose petals and furniture, it really seemed to complement the clothing.
The gowns were stunning and timelessly classic, strong colors, floral patterns, breathtaking long gowns, to the short more cocktail dress's, Ashley really knows how to capture a woman's physic.
the models almost seemed mannequin like, so surreal- i loved the high bun it seemed to add to the classic theme and again compliment the clothing. The makeup was by MAC, and i think the use of the soft tones helped to finish off the outfit, I love MAC makeup- it truly is the best makeup out there =)
The run of the show was smooth and there was an amazing artist - singer.
I really enjoyed the run of the show, it was so different to other, so called "norm" fashion parades, this one was unique, creative and entertaining.
